The book is a very important source of information, a work of material culture and print art. Creating a book is a complex process that requires many different technological activities.

The book is a non-periodic print in the form of a code with the back of the pages. The number of pages is not less than 3 sheets, it is 48 pages. Today, book pages are made of paper. Typically, a book is a completed text expressed in characters or images.

Hardcover books

This type of binding method has been used since the beginning of the time. It is more representative, more durable. The book block is usually sewn with threads. The finished block is placed in lids made of cardboard (laminated paper, binder, etc.). Different technologies (UV varnish, embossing, foil printing, etc.) can be used to cover the covers

Soft cover books

This book binding method is one of the most common. The book block is glued to the special thermal glue. If the inner pages are made of thicker paper, the book block can be sewn with threads to ensure block strength.

  • Comparatively simple manufacturing
  • Shorter production time
  • Use of different materials for covers
  • Lower manufacturing costs

Elastīgais sējums

Elastīgais vai integrālais sējums ir līdzīgs cietajam sējumam. Grāmatas vāks  ir izgatavots no vienas laminētas kartona loksnes. Tāpēc tas ir mazāk darbietilpīgs process. Pārējie grāmatas izgatavošanas procesi ir līdzīgi kā cietajam sējumam.
